The Use of Pond-Marsh Stormwater Wetlands
in Suburban Shopping Center Parking Lots

Award as the Outstanding Thesis
for 1999-2000 academic year in the
LSU Landscape Architecture department.

My thesis explores how to integrate stormwater wetlands into suburban shopping center parking lots. These lots generate tremendous amounts of runoff, contribute to non-source point pollution and are unappealing visually. I investigated the use stormwater wetlands as a best management practice to address these three problems.

I developed guidelines for the introduction of stormwater wetlands into shopping center parking lots and then applied them to a shopping center that was being developed in Baton Rouge, LA.

The thesis concludes with the stormwater calculations.

I'm making my thesis available online in the hopes that it won't become a dusty tome restricted to just students at Louisiana State University. You can download the following as PDF files

  • Abstract
  • Bibliography
  • Thesis (approx. 1.5 megs)

It is also available as MS Word and Excel files. Please contact me for copies in these formats.
